Hello!
So
this was such a weird week! You know how monday wasnt p-day because
of the holiday, well it really felt like it was so it felt like we
had like 4 p-days this week haha
Since
all the stores were going to be closed on wednesday or president told
us we can go grocery shopping on monday instead, so we did that and
then we had to go to the mission office for a couple hours so Sister
Gibbons could pass of LPP (the language program our mission has to
help us learn the language easier and quicker) so most of our day was
spent not proselyting like normal.
On
tuesday we went to that new church building that was just dedicated
for a mission conference. It was so fun! They taught us about 주석
and taught us a couple
tradtional korean games, it was so fun. It was nice to meet other
missionaries since I barely know anyone and it was nice to see the
missionaries that I was with in the MTC!
On
wednesday was our actualy p-day but because everything was closed we
couldnt do much.... but we were able to go to a 주석
party with Laruen (one of
our recent converts, her families the one who bought us the big bag
of pancake mix) and none of her family are members so it was so good
for us to be there! She invited us and the elders because she wants
them to focus a lot on her younger brother. So we got to meet her
mom, brother, 2 aunts, unlce, cousin, and grandparents. They are the
sweetest family you will ever met, not joking. They played a bunch of
games with us, some tradtional games and then we taught them some
american games, but the korean games are more fun haha and when you
lose in Korea they flick you forehead, but none of us wanted that so
poor sister lynn got flicked for all of us haha then they fed us so
much food! They just kept bringing us out food but it was so
delicious! I really hope we were able to be good examples for them
and because they met us they will have a little more desire to come
to church with Lauren. Lauren really wants her whole family to be
baptized because she wants an eternal family more then anything. Man
I wish you could met them all, they really are such a wonderful
family. If everyone on earth could be like them then the world would
be such a great place.
Then
on Thursday we spent ALLLL day cleaning, which is actually super
tiring. That apartment was a lot grosser then we thought it was. We
deep cleaned everywhere and had to clean up a whole lot of mold,
which was disgusting.... I was trying to not throw up the whole time.
But not the place is super clean! But while we were cleaning, we may
have broken our stove and since its the holidays no one is around to
fix it, so we have been without a stove most of the week which hasnt
been that fun because all of our food requires a stove.. so we have
had to eat out more....
we
were able to have a 식사 with
our investigator Catherine on friday, it was really good! She took us
to 선교살,
its pigs meat you put in lettuce, its really good but once she told
me what kind of meat it was, I wasnt the biggest fan of it (I would
rather not think about where the meat is coming from.) Catherine has
really been progressing a lot, we were able to meet with her again
last night as well and we taught her more about the Book of Mormon,
so we taught her the restoration. I wish you could have seen her face
when we told her about joesph smiths experience when he prayed and
Heavenly Father appeared to him, you could really tell she was
listening. After she told us that she knew that story was true, which
was really good to hear since a lot of people struggle with thinking
it is. So we were able to share with her why we know the Book of
Mormon is true and how much it has helped our lives. The spirit was
so strong in the room. She then told us that she knows one day she
will change but she doesnt know if shes ready right now. So we said
thats okay, we will be here with you to help you. She was like “YOU
WILL?!? THANK YOU SO MUCH!” I think if we keep taking baby steps
with her she will accept the invitation for baptism. We have been
able to see Heavenly Father soften her heart the past 6 weeks and it
been amazing, I cant wait to see all the improvements she will make
in the future!
So
I made it through my first transfer!!!! crazy right?!?! time has gone
sooooo fast! But sadly the mission doesnt need a trio anymore so they
are spliting us up........ me and sister lynn are staying here but
Sister Gibbons is being transferred. It will be hard to see her go
but I know she will do great things in her new area!
I
hope you all have had a great week! Love you all so much
Love
Hemenway
자매
yeah it was digusting. we had one of those electric toilets and we took
it off to clean it and it was convered in mold...... so we threw it out
and went and bought a normal toilet seat.... dont ever buy one of those
haha
and yeah i can buy one, a lot of the missionaries have them but
they are alittle pricey! and they make everyone look SUPER fat haha

yeah
i would rather not end up being broke after my mission! oh i was going
to ask you, did you put more money in my account? because when i first
got here there was 300 more then when i left so i didnt know if that was
just the exchange rate or if you put money in?
and yeah i will send pictures!
also
do you know whats crazy?! a year ago this month is when i first started
feeling like i should serve a mission and ignored it the whole month,
and now im actuallu on one!
