sorry we are emailing a little later. we have a weird week
this week. this whole week is 주석 its like korean thanksgiving, the main
day is wednesday but it lasts all week. so today is not our pday but
president is still wanting us to email. and then we have a big mission
conference tomorrow all day, our pday is wednesday, and then we have all
day cleaning day on thursday (like we cant leave our house at all cause
we have to deep clean everything) but since its not pday we werent
allowed to leave our house till 10... so sorry!
this weeks been pretty good!
we
had my first 식사 (dinner appointment) on monday! oh my word mom i
thought i was going to die!!!! she gave us sooooo much food. the food
was really good though! she started out by giving us bread and salad
which was really yummy then about 10mins later brought out some chicken
and rice thing so we eat all of that, then she tells us that the main
course was almost doen. when i heard that i thought my stomach was going
to expolde causei was already super full! then she gives each of us a
huge bowel of dumpling soup, with each bite i had to keep myself from
throwing up cause i was so full. then she made us a really yummy
smoothie. i went into the bathroom and prayed that i wasnt going to
throw up. but dont worry i didnt! i just need a bigger stomach! then she
taught us a traditional korean game, it was really fun. i have a video
of it that ill try and send, its harder then it looks haha she was super
sweet and ended up giving us the game and yesterday at church she came
up to us with little presents and gave me and sister gibbons the game so
we each could have one!! the members here are literally the best people
ever!! then we had 2 other 식사s but dont worry they didnt feed us as
much so i could handle it!
at the beginning of this week we
got a phone call from a former investigator asking if we were still
doing the 30 30 program because she wanted to met with us. so we said
yes and set up a time. sister lynn was super worried because last time
they met she didnt really want anything to do with learning about our
church. but when we met with her we asked her if she had any english
questions and she said no she just wanted to free talk, so we were like
okay thats fine. then she spent the rest of the time asking us about
families and how are families and parents are and how our church views
husband and wife relationships. so we got to share with her everything
baout families and relationships and how our families are. i guess she
does not have a good relationship with her husbadn. he is always at work
or drinking with his friends and when he is at home he is sleeping. she
is very frustrated because she has to do everything with her kids
alone. the only time they have a good realtionship is when they are both
drunk, and she hates it. she is trying to find a job in Canada so she
can take her kids and leave him. when she heard what our church believes
she kept saying im really jealous, i want that, i want my daughters
raised in that. she told us she asked her husband if they could raise
thier daughters in the church but he said no because then they wouldnt
have friends. so all of us were like uhhh we met all our friends through
the church. haha so it was a really good lesson about families and how
important our church thinks they are. so she agreed to met with us
again. we are so excited to see where she goes! that really shows that
everything is on the lords time table because a few months ago she
wanted nothing to do with the church but then she calls us out of the
blue to pretty much only take about the church because she wants it. the
lord really does prepare people its crazy!!
On saturday we
annouced to our english class that we are closing the class (the church
is coming out with a new class but only 15-25 years ols are allowed to
come, which is no one in the class we have now.) and oh boy... people
did not take that well. we had an appointment with one of them after and
man did she let us have it. we read the book of mormon with her every
saturday but she never lets us talk about anything else related to our
church so we had been thinking about dropping her but then she dropped
us instead. after we were done reading she turns to us and starts
yelling at us how the book of mormon has been a disappointment. she has
studied it for a year and read all of it (which she hasnt, shes only
read ether and moroni) and it has not touched her heart at all. she
doesnt understand why this book even exsits. She kept saying stuff like
that for about 15 mins while we just sat there. when she was finally
done we all just said we were sorry and then testified how we know its
true and that it can help us but we have to let it help us. then she
went off again for another 5 mins and we just sat there. so she handed
us back the book of mormon and said she doesnt want to met with us
again. and she left. and all of us where like uuuuuuhhhh what just
happened..? its was actually pretty funny haha
the members of
the ward have been the sweetest to us this week since its the holidays.
almost all of them have given us so much food its crazy! one of our
recent converts family (who arent members) knew how much we love
pancakes, bought us a huge bag of pancake mix!! it was the best cause
know thats like all we eat! and then another member knew we ran out of
rice a few weeks ago so this week bought us a huge bag of rice! they are
the best people you will ever meet!!
sorry thats about all i remember from this week!
i hope you all have a great week and enjoy the rest of the time in utah!!! i love you all so much!

thats crazy, i kind of want of want to to start getting cold so i can
wear a jacket, its still pretty hot here. i havent gone door knocking
yet but president wants all of us to do it 3 or 4 times while training
so we are going to more next transfer. we arent in stores much so not
really in stores but we do on the street. im not really good at it
because im to scared to talk to them in korean, so thats really
something ive been tryuing to work on. and no i havent seen anyone be
super rude, you can tell when they dont want to talk to youso you kind
of end the conversation. the koreans are really nice here. most people
want to talk to you because they think its cool that you are speaking
their langauge
i can speak more and more, about half our lessons are in korean and half
are in english. im still not that great and what i say is probably not
in the proper order, since you know the sentence structure is crazy
different. im still trying to learn middle form since all the mtc
teaches us is high form, so that been a lot of work to learn, but slowly
im learning more and more
ummmmm nothing super gross, but we made 194 cookies for a zone activity
and eat one after we baked them and they were the grossest things ever
and then luckily the activity was canceled so now we have 191 cookies
sitting in our freezer that are nast as freak!
umm no, i dont think there was ever anytime were i felt scared, it feels really safe here!
the colorful pic is a random mural in the subway we thought was cute
the video of the bug is a random gross bug we found in the sink at the church
the one of me and sister gibbons we are in presdients car, he was giving us a ride to a meeting
the
ones of me and a few sisters, the sister in the middle was my trainers
trainer (so my grandma in mission terms) she "died" or went home on
saturday
the one with a korean in it is the member we ate
dinner with and she makes those cute dolls, they are all over her house.
the video of me was playing the korean game
i think that was all of them
