hello mom!
so this week we survived a
typoon! well not really, the only part of it that hit seoul was a little
bit of rain that felt more like mist. everyone was making it seem like
it was going to be the worst storm we have ever seen, schools were shut
down, our mission president sent out a text making sure we all had our
72 hour kits up to date and we had to stay near our homes. and then when
the storm was supposed to hit nothing happened so we were all so
confused why everyone made such a big deal about everything when nothing
happened. well then when we went to a restaurant a few days later they
had the news on and were showing the more south part of Korea and they
were hit really bad, so then that all made a lot of sense. we are all
hoping that everyone is okay down there!
let
me just add a quick comment about the announcement that President Nelson
made about the whole mormon church thing and how he doesnt want us
using it anymore. to you that all might not make sense but to a
missionary serving in Asia especially in korea, that was the best news i
have heard my whole mission. the word mormons here has such a bad rep
that if people find out you are mormon they stop talking to you or start
yelling at you that you are a cult. but no one really knows our real
name so if we can finally stop using mormons that will open up so many
doors here for people to know our real name and t o stop thinking we are
a cult since they wont be able to associate the two together! we are so
excited about it, we wanted to throw ourselves a little party hahah
Nothing
to incredibly exciting happened this week. we stopped a super drunk
lady who walked into our church from going into our english classes (she
was a really mean drunk lady) we have really noticed that Satan is
trying his best to ruin all these classes which means these classes are
doing and will do really great things!
a
couple of weeks ago we got this referral from a member and she actaully
came to church by herself that day so we were able to met and teach her
then but we havent had a chance to met her since then because she had
been super busy but then randomly this week we got a text from her
saying she had time in an hour so we changed our plans to met her and it
was awesome. she has no english interest, she only wants to learn about
the gospel, which has like never happened my whole mission. so we
talked with her for a couple of hours and she had some awesome
questions(which were a little hard to explain since we are both
americans but we tried our best) and then we met with her again
yesterday for another couple of hours, we are super excited to see her
progress. at the end of our lesson she even committed herself to read
the book of mormon and to pray about our message, which we were super
shocked because normally when we ask people to do that they dont so we
were surprised she brought that up herself!!!

oh yeah i have been in korea for one year tomorrow~~~
thats what they are working on here to, one of the reasons they made a
new english program here was to only allow 15 to 30 year olds to come
because that who they want us teaching now because those will be the
next leaders of the church, so thats cool that they are doing that there
too, maybe its a worldwide thing!
yeah some how the storm moved south so my mission was barely touched, we
just all got the misty rain! some one told us the 10 people were killed
so we are happy it missed us!
sorry for the confusion i talked to my mission president again a couple
of days ago and i told him to move it back to the 17th of jan. i felt a
lot better about it once i talked to him so i think that was right. i
will just figure out life and school and everything when i get home so i
can focus more on my mission!

yeah
i was feeling to much stress about all of it and i felt it was getting
in the way of focusing on the work so i felt it was better to just wait
and plan it later. i wish i could be home for christmas but its okay i
will have plenty of other christmas. i will be the only one leaving on
that day though because the rest of my group is leaving the 29th but my
mission president said he was really happy that i chose to stay!
yeah so i am still thinking about that or thinking about moving back up
to utah in the fall and going to school there but i dont know hahaha
we wanted to go on another hike but it is raining so instead we are going to go by Korean glasses, the circle ones hahah
it was really pretty, we went up to this bridge but if you walked past
this bridge they had a really pretty Buddhist temple (we arent allowed
to take pics there) and they had huge marble statues of the zodiac
signs, it was so pretty but i realized how out of shape i am even though
all we do it walk all day everyday!
haha that is what we said too, we kept complenting this lady on those
pics so she would keep sending them to us hahhaha she was a little
different though hahah
no i was talking to a lady in a cafe that was at the table next to us
and i thought her dog was really ugly but said it was cute anyway and
asked if i could touch it and next thing i know she put it on my lap and
sister fryer thought it was funny so she took a pic of it.
no she looked like she took care of it it so it was fine, it was just really funny haha
yeah
yesterday as a house we all had some weird mental breakdown when it
comes to missionary work because we see everything they do on the
district and stuff and none of that stuff happens here so we were saying
everything that has happened to all of us that probably has never
happened to anyone else in other missions and then we realized that most
of our mission has been consistent of really weird crazy stories that
we arent quite sure how the heck they have happened haha but they make
for really funny stories!
